DDN Moving Site

Moving a dotnetnuke website actually is easy.
While there are many articles on the net about move DOtNEtNUKE sites.
I found this one to actually be very good.

However, I will like to make some notes for future references.
1. Think about two things. You old server is called the "old server" it may have a connection string, even sa and a password. You need to know if the new server (database connection) string is different (and it most likely will be) even if we still are using sa as the user.

2. When you connect back to your database on the new server, your site should run.
3. All files- downloads and such document should still be working very well, there should be no broken links.

Remember : When you login as Host and try to add your new alias to the site, you may see your origional alias eg. localhost fixed in a way you cannot remove or edit it.
To make the change - find the Database table called portalAlist.
and there you can make the necessary changes for the portal -eg www.gotomysite.com

This is a very useful administrative task.
