Please be aware that when i write the intention is for the propose of readers who are living in the Caribbean Region. Readers who have a little money to invest ( no spend) in some kind of technology for their kids or self. Therefore since we cant throw our monies out the windows today and return to the store when the next best "IT thing" shows up, then we are to think and choose wisely.
Here are my pointer when buying a tablet for your Kids. These pointers are from two live and living examples of fathers who gave their kids ( 1 year old and 5 year old) tables (android and ipads).
Father 1: ( Android device Asus Transformer 101 Prime, IPad exposure ( on weekends)
Child Age: 5 Years
The child preferred the ipad application. The quality of these application were clean and clear. When this child was offered the Asus he happily accepted and was quite happy with the device.

1 Year after the child was given a device known as the Ematic FunTab Pro 7" Android 4.0 Kid Safe Tablet. This was a waste of money.
Father 2: ( Android devices: Toshiba Thrive 10 inches)
Child Age: 1 years
This child used the thrive until it died because of ill treatment. When introduced to the
Ematic FunTab Pro 7" Android 4.0 Kid, he did not see the need to even touch that device.

Two other devices the XO kids tablet 7 inches and Samsung Galaxy 3 Tab.
Both devices was accepted by the child at age 2+, However, this child refused to used these devices after 1 day.
The observations made me think about kids tablet.
1. Screen size matters - once they get to 10 inches, they will want to stick to 10.
2. If tablet is android, the idea of kid screen / interface is not as accepted as the normal android screens.
3. Those Kid interface are highly graphical and seems to slow down the tablets, they seem very sluggish when compared to the regular android interface.
Kids get very irritated when the tablet slows down or freezes. This happens with games. It mean that the high end tablets may even be more accommodating to kids.
Battery life seem to run out most when a kid is using a tablet verses an adult. This is obvious, because they are either streaming over Wifi ( the battery killer) or they are using games ( high processing power).
My Advise to parents:
Get 10 inches regular android devices ( with just regular vanilla android) all these add on are killing android performance.)
Get one of the well know brands. Asus, Toshiba, Dell, Sony, Google, Nexus, LG, Panisonic, Acer,HP, Archos,Samsung
Don't spend 150USD on some cheap o. then realize that you have wasted your money.
