1. **Importance of Methylcobalamin (B12):** Methylcobalamin (B12) is crucial for DNA control, red blood cells, and the myelin sheath surrounding nerves. Deficiency can lead to tingling, numbness, burning sensations, and potential permanent damage affecting the spinal column and brain.

2. **Symptoms of Deficiency:** B12 deficiency symptoms include extreme fatigue, depression, muscle wasting, blurry vision, tinnitus, anemia, mouth ulcers, sore throat, and hair loss.

3. **Toxicity Risks:** Both deficiency and toxicity symptoms exist. Toxicity can result from synthetic versions like cyanocobalamin, found in some energy drinks and supplements. Symptoms include acne, palpitations, anxiety, red skin, headaches, insomnia, and restlessness (akathesia).

4. **Causes of Deficiency:** Deficiency may arise from a plant-based diet, poor absorption in the digestive system (linked to aging, lack of hydrochloric acid, stomach issues), inflammation in the intestines, aspirin use, alcohol consumption, junk food, antibiotics, PPI use, birth control pills, smoking, and genetic factors like MTHFR polymorphism.

5. **Genetic Factor - MTHFR:** The MTHFR gene can impact B12 metabolism and conversion. Individuals with MTHFR issues may need to avoid synthetic versions and opt for methylfolate and methylcobalamin to prevent complications such as increased homocysteine levels, raising the risk of heart problems, stroke, depression, and anxiety.

Look for B12 Suppliments - Methyl type supplyments should follow a protocol. Contact me for some guidance.  However, you can get from Amazon.com the type I use.
