Mobile app for Farmers in Grenada

A new mobile android app for farmers will be available during 2015, so says young developers of  "If You LOVE" IT  "Let it go mobile". Grenada.
The new start up is above to pilot their first major productivity application with a few farmer throughout mainland Grenada.
Their proposed value is simple. Using a Smart Phone, farmer will take short video clips, images and voice notes of their crops, their plots, weed issues, pest, insects then submit to a central cloud.
The central cloud aggregates, the data and presents these findings on a Google Map with location of the farms.
The central cloud system also gathers weather information, and other external information sources to build a knowledge base that is specific to the issues of farmer.
It is hoped that the future of this app can also lead to better marketing and production information from the farmers to wholesale retailers such as MNIB.
During the pilot 12 farmers in Grenada will be trained to use the application.
The developers reported that while the application is easy to use, the change management issue with farmers maybe an area that needs deep consideration for successful adoption.
We will like to highlight that while mobile devices are numerous, their uses in developing nations such as Grenada has not been measured. It is hope that such ventures will lead to learning outcomes that drives positive change in our lifestyle.
