Seeking Investors for Small Environmental Project

Background
The Tri-Island state of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique has recognised the potential that lies in identifying its environmental and Human Resources. While there has been several advancements in developing awareness of the use of technology as a means of driving new economic initiatives, there is also the need to apply innovation to facilitate the identification of environmental resources.

It is on this basis that I am calling for investors to support the development of a project that can help with the identification of several different sea-based (marine) resources within the state of Grenada.

This project is seeking to address the data collection for marine resources throughout the coast line of the islands by a simple crowd sourcing methodology. 

The idea seeks to foster the use of mobile, web and other reporting mechanisms to provide images and textual descriptions of sea life in Grenada.

  1. Human resource (effort, time and intelligence) - the main need is willing individuals who are prepared to learn and do; think and act.  You will be required to
  • take a short course on web-based research, learning to search and reference sea life ( marine creatures and plants).
  • own or have access to a smart phone with a back facing camera.  This will allow you to take a few photos or videos.

  1. Computing and digital equipment:  We are working on a web-based platform for archiving all data, using mapping technologies. Currently we are running into an estimate of $4000.00USD before deployment of the systems. 
    We are thus seeking investors to crowd fund these line items in our plan. In return you will have done a great deal by supporting this project and we thank you for helping. We are also opened to providing you with whatever perks that are within our reach.

  1. Clear aerial images: We are seeking a drone that will provide us with the low altitude functionality to fly over the coastline to take crisp images of the coastline and underlying sea bed. The cost of the drone is estimated at USD 2000.00USD.
    We are also soliciting help to purchase this product. 

    Our methodology as explained, is focused on human capacity building thus all our persons involved in the project will use this drone to fly over their coastal region. Persons are not expected to have flown any item before, save a kite.

  1. Underwater images and videos of marine creatures:  These will be the highlight of this project. Having these images and videos will allow us to automate the tagging and identification of marine creatures. We are seeking funding or donation of such a device that can do non-intrusive shallow water remote videos and images.  This we will use to consistently collect data on the coral and marine life, to see the effect of climate change on our marine life. This in turn can be used to plan mitigation and adaptation measures in the interest of the region.
